Atlez was bestowed with the task of Anchor to Earth-616 universe by an unknown predecessor. It is through his own admission, that he held this role since the dawn of the Roman Empire. As time passed it became apparent that he was not immortal, and he would be in need of a successor to assume his mantle. Being a telepath of great power he telepathically reached out across many galaxies and manipulated the Thanosi, into setting off a course of events that caught the attention of the cosmic adventurer Adam Warlock. Adam was lured to his realm in a dimension known as the void of Final Oblivion, and he was informed of the location of Atlez's new successor, a young Earth girl known as Atleza Langunn.
