ULTIMATE IRON MAN

Orson Scott Card and Andy Kubert take on the origin of a major player in the Ultimate Universe in ULTIMATE IRON MAN.

When readers met Ultimate Iron Man, this Tony Stark clearly retained the great intelligence, wealth, and debilitating health problems of his Marvel Universe counterpart, but Card tackles how and why Ultimate Tony came to don his high-tech armor.

Antonio "Tony" Stark seemed destined to be Iron Man from before his birth. Tony's parents, scientists Howard and Maria Stark, meet because they had the complementary set of scientific skills necessary to create a bio-armor. This could associate their child with his future alter ego on its own, but no Iron Man story would be complete without a tragic accident and a little corporate treachery, which Zebadiah Stane and a monkey named Jimmy all too happily provide.

Born of tragedy but forged in genius, Tony Stark becomes an Iron Man to be reckoned with!
