After years of recovering from a psychic assault by Charles Xavier and plotting his next move, Magneto made his grand return in 1999 as he sparked a war that threatened to consume himself, the X-Men, humans, mutants and even the world.
Unfolding over six parts beginning in the X-MEN: MAGNETO WAR one-shot and spilling into UNCANNY X-MEN #366-#367 and X-MEN v2 #85-#87, "Magneto War" saw the Master of Magnetism hold the Earth hostage by threatening to rip apart its atmosphere with his amplified powers. The X-Men rush to stop their archnemesis, but find roadblocks in the form of the Acolytes and the enigmatic Astra.
Before the smoke clears, the mysteries of the X-Man called Joseph stand revealed, Magneto claims an important victory and the Children of the Atom pay a dire price.
