Dead Man's Cake
2007-10-18 17:23:15
Oh, Quasar, we hardly knew ye. Well, some people knew you quite well, but they sure didn't have the power to save your Quantum Band-wielding behind from death at the hands of Annihilus.

Bill Rosemann and
the Quasar cake!

Will Allred from the Quantum Zone Forums had shared some communiques with ANNIHLATION: CONQUEST editor Bill Rosemann and somewhere along the line, Will informed Bill that a very special dessert treat would make its way to the Marvel offices. Fast forward a bit (to what's now a few weeks ago) to a wonderful Monday morning (I do believe it was Monday, I was in my normal Monday morning meeting spot) when Bill pops into a conference room, parading around with a cake.

But not just any cake. The Quasar cake. A creamy, sugary, thick slab of moist & chewy goodness emblazoned with the visage of a very dead mid-level (at best...c'mon, let's be honest) cosmic character. The cake brought tears of sadness and joy to many a Marvel staffer, not to mention filling their bellies with the many wonders of the baking arts.

Quasar cake!

Our friends at Comic Book Resources are heading up a more in-depth story on the now-legendary cake, but I wanted to share some photos from the eat-stravaganza.

And in the end, what did the cake do? Bring back Wendell Vaughn? YES!!!

No. No it didn't. I lie. I'm a spy, that's kinda my thing. Have you seen "Chuck"? They're spies and they lie all the time. Anyway, the cake, while delightful and enjoyed by many, could not raise poor Wendell from the dead.

But if you feel so inclined, we're currently looking for Scott Lang Ant-Man cupcakes, Banshee soda bread or Kraven cream pies. Hook us up and we'll see what we can do.

Thank you
Thanks for posting an article on the cake and for the pics. Hope you enjoyed it.

Neat cake, but that is a really bad Quasar picture, he looks like a girl

Very Cool
Matt, that was a very very classy move. Hope it does put them in a better frame of mind about Quasar in the future.

That is an excellent campaign strategy! (Even if it doesn't work, Marvel can have their cake, and eat it too.) Perhaps fans should do this more often instead of sending nuts to TV studios.

Quasar Cake
If this doesn't show the powers that be that there are people out there who want Wendell/Quasar back I don't know what will! My hat's off to you Quasar fans! Oh and I'm one too! I don't have all his comics for nuthin!
